Position:
 Scientific Assistant
Duties:
Team member for practical course in Materials III, wood based materials at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, Institute for Building Materials. This involve training of Bachelors students in micro-mechanical experiments with micro-tensile testing stage for mechanical test of wood tissues. The testing stage is mounted on Stereo microscope and a CCD camera for measuring video displacement. The aim is to give the students general understanding of mechanical properties of wood, comparing the properties of normal wood to that of compression wood. Influence of large microfibril angle (MFA) in compression wood when tested in wet and dry conditions, and relationship between elastic modulus, E, and density. Swelling and shrinkage of normal, acetylated, and thermally modified wood, influence of moisture especially on spring back effects was also examined for wood based materials including oriented strand board (OSB), medium density fibre board (MDF), and particle boards. • Part of my work during the doctorate is management of the homepage of my professorial chair, Wood Materials. This involve day-to-day updating the information on the homepage, showcasing the research activities the research groups in the professorial chair.
